Macintosh Support For Downloading Reports

  1. Open Internet Explorer 5.x or greater
  2. Click on the Edit Menu
  3. Click on Preferences
  4. A dialog box will open up. In this dialog box on the left is a list. In this list scroll down until you find Receiving Files and click on the triangle to the left.
  5. Click on File Helpers
  6. The right side of the dialog will change to reflect a list. The right hand column heading is Extension Mime Type. Scroll down this list and do the following for every list item that contains application/rtf.
    1. Click on the list item
    2. Click on the change button (bottom of the dialog box)
    3. This will open another dialog box, under file type click browse and navigate to your installation of Microsoft Word, usually under Desktop\Macintosh HD\Applications\Microsoft Office xx where xx is the version of office (ie. 98, 2000). Alternatively you should be able to use any program that understands RTF (rich text format) instead of Microsoft Word.
    4. Next, make sure that encoding is set to Plain Text
    5. Make sure that Use for Incoming and User for Outgoing is checked
    6. Under handling clilck on the select list to the right of How to Handle and select Post-Process with Application
    7. Next click browse and browse to Microsoft Word (or whatever you are using for RTF)
    8. Cllick OK
  7. Finally once you have finished doing the above for every instance that contains application/rtf click OK
*After following the above instructions you should be able to open reports on a Macintosh.
